The 9 Best Wedding Venues in (and around) Greenville, SC

Before you find your wedding photographer (or plan much of your wedding at all), you should be on the lookout for your favorite wedding venue! The venue sets the tone for your whole wedding - will it be rustic, elegant, modern, glamorous? - and may inform many of the decisions you make about attire, decor, and even how many guests you will invite.

So to put it simply, the venue is probably the biggest decision you will make when it comes to wedding planning (after who you're getting married to, of course!) There are so many wonderful venues in upstate South Carolina, so I've compiled a quick list of my favorites to help you get started in your search for the perfect backdrop for your "I do"s.

The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel (Landrum, SC)

We’re starting off with an ICON here. The views from Glassy Chapel are absolutely breathtaking. If you want to get married in the mountains, but don’t want to sacrifice the elegance and drama of a chapel wedding, you can have it all here. You can have your reception on Cliffs grounds as well, or opt for ceremony only.

Our couple Mikayla and Michael travelled all the way from Pennsylvania to tie the knot here, and I’d say it was worth the trip! See photos from their Cliffs at Glassy wedding ceremony here.

Aurora Farms (Taylors, SC)

If I set out to build a wedding venue as a photographer, Aurora Farms would be the blueprint. What makes it so great? Number one: equally beautiful outdoor and indoor wedding spaces. So, if it rains on your wedding day, or is too hot, or too cold, you have an amazing indoor backup plan (that photographs beautifully, might I add.)

Secondly, I love all the window light inside… and the white painted wood inside that makes for a background that doesn’t detract from your day. If you want a barn vibe, but you also want a clean, elevated look, this is your spot.

It rained on Julie and Daniel’s wedding day at Aurora Farms, but not only did we still get to sneak outside for pictures under the willow tree between cloudbursts, we were even blessed with a RAINBOW! Don’t miss it!

Southern Bleachery (Taylors, SC)

Southern Bleachery has more of that white wall and window light aesthetic going for it, but with more of an industrial, brick flair. Located in the Taylors’ Mill complex, this is a perfect wedding venue for those who find the beauty in old, historic buildings and the textures and colors of those beautiful windows outside! Bonus, there are tons of things to do in the space around Taylors’ Mill, from coffee bar, to brewery, to retro arcade - it’s built for those who know they’ll want an after-party (or a caffeine fix mid day!)

Abby & Ryan crafted a unique, gorgeous wedding day in this space that was all them!

Table Rock Lodge (Pickens, SC)

One of my venue picks for best mountain views in the upstate! This lodge is cute inside and out, and offers views of the lake and mountains of Table Rock State Park from the back porch. Pair with a bluegrass band and barbecue for the best Blue Ridge Mountains wedding you’ve ever experienced.

Chattooga Belle Farm (Long Creek, SC)

Chattooga Belle Farm is another mountain view stunner! This rustic farm has a covered ceremony space that faces out toward the beautiful vineyards and Blue Ridge Mountains.

See the photos: Sara and Rob’s spring wedding at Chattooga Belle was one of the sweetest and most photogenic days we’ve ever photographed.

The Gassaway Mansion (Greenville, SC)

Okay, we've included some rustic venues on this list, but maybe you want something a little more polished. Look no further than the Gassaway Mansion, a historic home with tons of style. This is perfect for a vintage themed wedding (perhaps '20s, to match the home's aesthetic), or more glamorous affairs. But, you can also take it more ethereal and rustic by decorating the tented area outside for an outdoor wedding.

The Westin Poinsett Hotel (Greenville, SC)

Continuing with the theme of elegant historic venues, no Greenville venue list would be complete without mentioning one of the most unique buildings in the upstate - the Westin Poinsett hotel! Built in the 1920s, the Westin has two stunning ballrooms in which to host your ceremony and/or reception. It's also a great place to stay if you have a lot of guests coming from out of town. Plus, you just might get an opportunity to take some photos on the roof! Main character energy, for sure.

Viewpoint at Buckhorn Creek (Greenville, SC)

Viewpoint at Buckhorn is one of my favorite rustic wedding venues in the Greenville area. It's nestled in the woods near Paris Mountain, and is a home-turned-wedding venue with tons of charm. One thing I love about the space is how many separate little areas it contains, allowing you to customize the flow of your day just how you want it.

Clevedale Inn (Spartanburg, SC)

Let’s show Spartanburg some love by rounding out the list with the Clevedale Inn. My team and I were blown away by the beauty and romance that the inn has to offer! If you are looking for a garden party vibe, this is your place. The Inn has so many different options of ceremony spaces on its beautiful grounds that no two weddings there will look alike - but they will all be beautiful!

There you have it... my short list for the most photogenic venues in the upstate! Give these venues a look - maybe one is the perfect backdrop for your big day!
